Grant Writing & Funding Application

  • There are several agencies and programs that support small-scale, community-led renewable energy projects in rural and northern communities in Canada.
  • We have raised over $12 million dollars for our clients and we can support you in your application process. Some of the programs we are familiar with:
    • SREP – Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways Program
    • CanNor – Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency
    • REACHE – Northern REACHE Program
    • IREI – Innovative Renewable Energy Initiative
    • Arctic Energy Fund
    • FNCEBF – First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund

Community Energy Planning

A plan to guide your clean energy initiatives with achievable, high impact activities

  • Develop a community vision to guide your short to long term goals
  • Desktop analysis of various renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, hydro, biomass) based on your local resources
  • Provide high level business cases for the implementation of various clean technologies, including energy efficiencies
  • Identify governance and human capacity requirements
Community Energy Plan

Pre-Feasibility Study

Low-cost study to determine if your project idea could generate a profit

  • Desktop analysis for a specific clean technology (solar, wind, hydro, biomass, hydrogen), answering the question: do we have something or not?
  • Perform energy modelling and system sizing
  • Perform a high level business case, identifying capital cost (+/- 40%), operation & maintenance costs, expected revenues, and answering several questions:
    • Will this project generate a profit?
    • Sensitivity: What if the sales are lower than expected; what if major repair is required. How to mitigate the risk of stranded assets
    • Identify financial options (funding/loan/private investments)
    • Identify regulatory constraints and requirements, land use and access (easement) requirements
    • Identify next steps: field studies such as geotechnical study, grounding study, site surveys
    • Develop conceptual design drawings

Feasibility Study and Front-End Design

Refine your business case and make informed investment decisions

  • Low-cost study to determine if your project idea could generate a profit.

Detailed Design

Get ready for the tendering and construction stages

  • Prepare drawings for tendering and construction
  • Prepare quality and commissioning plan
  • Prepare project and financial plan
  • Conduct tendering processes

Construction and Commissioning Management

Project Management services to keep your project delivery on time and within budget

Manage your Project to meet financial, timeline and quality expectation:

  • Tender and contract suppliers
  • Obtain construction permits
  • Perform factory acceptance testing
  • Site quality control
  • Resolve deficiencies
  • Support commissioning process
  • Resolve deficiencies
  • Troubleshoot issues
  • Manage project changes

Operational Maintenance and Support

Ensure the long-term success of your project and generate employment opportunities

Ensure your asset is well managed to delivered the expected performance:

  • Implement maintenance schedule
  • Develop operation and maintenance procedures
  • Contract service providers
  • Train local operator
  • Troubleshoot issues
  • Track system performance, compare with financial and energy models

Life Cycle Assessment

Do you need to determine the environmental impact of your product, process, facility?

You might need to conduct a life cycle assessment if:

  • The product needs an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
  • The product, process or facility needs to meet ISO 14001:2015 requirements
  • A full inventory of greenhouse gas emissions (also known as environmental carbon footprint) needs to be disclosed to meet voluntary standards, legislation, or to use as a market differentiator
  • You are a fuel producer in Canada who wants to be compliant with the Clean Fuel Standard
